First, I can't stand people who tell me we can't do something because we have failed at it in the past. How sad would life be, if all we could be is what we have already been?
In my passion and desire to be better tomorrow than I am today, the mindset that is limited to our past is my arch enemy, and a LIE. A limiting and evil lie that can sit on top of us like a black and impenetrable cloud.
To live, to truly live... we must KNOW and embrace our capacity to BREAK OUT... to be limitless.
No, its NOT easy!
Never said it was.
But, IT'S LIVING!
Attempting to achieve more than we have in the past, attempting to have a bigger impact, to understand things better, to be kinder, to be wiser, to be better... that is inspiration, that is WHY I BREATHE!
I don't breathe to stay alive... I breathe to become stronger.
The reason we are so bound by our past is because of our fear of trying something new... a new approach, a new mindset, a new perspective, a new goal, a new environment, a new challenge...
The reason we are so bound by our past is because of our fear to change, or at least OUR GRAVITY to do what we have always done.
We are our greatest army and our greatest FOE. Life itself is a worthy advisary, and a loyal friend and partner.
It starts in our mind... and ends in our heart (really it ends in the mind too, but we call it our "heart" ;-)
So, don't EVER stop trying to be better. Don't EVER stop believing that you CAN! Just look around, work harder to embrace and understand the absolute truth, and TRY A NEW AND DIFFERENT way.
OH, and the second thing... always FINISH STRONG!!! Don't underestimate the impact of the final statement. People don't remember how you start. They often don't remember the details of the experience. They sometimes don't remember where you placed, or how the meeting you led felt throughout.
For example, if you run a marathon and you are the 10,506th finisher, but you sprint across the finish line and then raise your hands in true glory...
The crowd will go wild!
Leave nothing on the table. Spend all of your energy as you wrap up a presentation, a meeting, a race, a day... dig deep and find that final push. People will always remember the taste you left in their hearts!
And, the truth is... you can and will run faster next time! Just try a different training approach ;-)
Yours in harmony... FINISH STRONG,
Nestor
