I love this time of year…

I kid around, telling people that I “wish” Christmas was in January or February so that the effort of the holiday would not coincide with the end of the year!  “There is enough going on without adding X-mas to the mix ;-)

I am kidding of course.   Or at least, I realize that ain’t happenin’ so don’t wish for it.

But, the truth is, I love this time of year…

The time of year between Christmas and New Year’s, its like the denouement for the year.  The year starts and build and builds and builds, and in some ways it climaxes on Jesus’ Birthday.

THIS IS IT!  This is the one week to reflect, enjoy, reset, recharge and prepare for the beginning of another ride.

By now, if you are reading this, you understand that harmony happens “in the moment”,  but hopefully you also understand that there are different levels and layers of harmony.  Micro and macro harmony, if you will.  Micro harmony happens in the moment, and macro harmony happens over time.

To me, you can think about harmony in years…

What is the truth of this year?  What worked?  What didn’t?

How well did I do at the things I intended to accomplish or improve upon?

What don’t I like about my “is”, about my “truth”?

It is a wonderful week to truly enjoy a slightly different pace.  Allow yourself to downshift, and PAY ATTENTION to voices inside your head.

At this point, you really can’t accomplish what you wanted to accomplish this year, if you didn’t already.

I won’t be able to run a 6 minute mile before the end of the year.  I won’t be sub 215 lbs.  OK.  Accepted.

But, beyond the obvious, how are you really doing?  OR, MORE IMPORTANTLY… what do you WANT for in 2015?  How do you want to change, or evolve, or transform your life into the next, greatest version of yourself.

It’s true.   There is nothing magical about this time of year.  It’s just another week in a 52 week cycle.  UNLESS of course, YOU WANT TO MAKE IT MAGICAL!

You can make any week magical, transformative, reflective, life-altering.  You have the power to do that at any time.  But, we don’t very often use that little God given super power of transforming our own lives.

Why not NOW?

While it is not necessarily magical, for me, it is “the” time, that the nomenclature of transitioning from one year to the next, allows me an additional reason to try to “turn the page” or whatever you want the metaphor to be.

I look to find harmony in my moments… but the harmony that I seek are small pieces of a greater harmony.  And, every so often, thinking about that “greater harmony” is relevant.

We are creatures of HABIT.  And, our lives and every aspect of our trajectories follow grooves that we dig by repetition.  Those grooves define our IS, and at times keep us from our want.  Or at least, keep us from our optimal or maximum want.

So, take these days and be thoughtful about the reality of your life, and think of the next version of yourself knowing that its within reach.  Define the want for 2015 and define the path from your truth that gets you there.

What habits do you need to break?

What do you need to try to do different?

The 2014 chapter is coming to an end.

It’s just one more page, I know.  But, it’s a whole new chapter…   PLEASE if you are thinking and reflecting... CHECK OUT THE DIGITAL GOLD section of the HARMONY home page.  The videos that I shared are so very useful and insightful to help you consider and reflect.

And, anything is possible again.

For me:

I don’t know for sure yet, but I know that I want to spend more time with my family.  I realize that I am away from home for too many hours, so I want to change my schedule.

I know that I want to work on my physical well being and take that to the next level.  While I feel strong, I don’t feel as good as I did a year ago, and it doesn’t have to do with age.

I want to continue to explore harmony.  This blog has been great, but I want to take it farther.  I want to evolve it from a one way conversation to a two way conversation.  And, I am thinking of ways to do that.

Professionally, this has got to be the year that I evolve.  While I have added strategic thinking to my daily conversation, now I need to truly embrace a whole new level of both candor and prioritization in a more effective way.  I want to move more important things along faster AND be involved in a lot less.  I need to think about how to strike that balance.

I also need to figure out how to run a remote executive team, and gain trust and alignment with less frequent touches.

I want to be a better father, husband, friend, leader, manager, colleague, professional and human being and I am trying to be honest about the ways that I can take each one of those to the next level. What is the one thing that would make the biggest difference in each of those areas.

Don’t know the answers yet… but that is where my head is right now.

I am reading, thinking, laughing, enjoying…

Think MACRO harmony right now…

I am convinced that the grateful pursuit of a better version of ourselves keeps us young, and humble, and open minded.  Take advantage, these days can define the bigger direction of your WANT… and create greater room for bigger change.

Did I tell you, I love this time of year ;-)

Yours in harmony… preparing to turn the page,

Nestor
