How do I share a conversation that I have been having with myself for 46 years in just 5 minutes? That is a question I asked myself in 2013 before presenting to about 200 CEO's on the topic "Achieving Success and Happiness Through Harmony".
The response from those CEOs, as well as the response from friends and colleagues and acquaintances, combined with my unbridled passion to continue to pursue this conversation and this learning, made me want to share this "conversation that I have with myself" in a more fluid and on-going way with anyone who cares to listen.
So, here we are! Welcome to the conversation... I hope you engage in it actively.
My whole life I have pursued harmony. I have been a curious student and have watched for it. And, it exists. It exists in people who we are drawn to, who somehow seem to be able to help us think and grow while making us feel deeply satisfied with who we already are. It exists in companies who have figured out how to embrace the values that make people want to come in everyday and give their best. It exists in companies that have figured out how to engage their clients in a way that makes them personally committed. It exists in families who have a gravity to each other, not just to celebrate holidays, but when times are challenging and difficult. It exists in relationships, in teams, in everything that is made up of people. Or, it doesn't.
And, I have come to understand what makes harmony possible, and what makes it invisible.
My goal is to write about what allows us to create harmony, which in my opinion, is the essence to happiness, to success, to peace of mind, to the kind of life that we all dream about living.
I will write about how it plays into my personal development, into my family, into my friendships, into my work, into my soccer team, and into my world.
I can't stop thinking about it.
Importantly, the more I apply what I am learning to my life, I feel it deep in my soul. I am more grateful. I am more satisfied. I am happier than I have ever been, and I am still as motivated about my dreams and about the life that awaits, as ever.
You see, harmony exists in the moment. We will explore this. It is the awareness and the energy that allows us to find the gratitude in our reality and complement it perfectly with the ambition in our dreams.
I have read many times over that the Japanese in the 1970s and 1980s read the American textbooks on quality, and thought that the Americans really meant it, so they followed the textbooks. As a result, in the 80s and 90s, Japan became the global quality masters, and made what seemed impossible very possible.
I am convinced that the books I read, the videos I see, the formulas and concepts that I am able to form about harmony as the essence of success and happiness are very much the same as the quality textbooks 40 years ago.
The formulas exist. And, I am committed to applying the knowledge that exists about achieving success and happiness to my life... and I have great confidence in the outcome.
And, remember, the outcome happens in every moment...
Tomorrow, I will share the essence of my "theory". The single thought, upon which virtually every action I take, every thought I have, is based. And, from there, we'll just go on and explore together...
Starting with gratitude,
Nestor
