I have been thinking about you for the past few days
So many thoughts in and out of my mind and such little time to process. Things are HOPPING at work and I need to find some downtime to write.
Truth is that i have started probably 4 different topics and I am struggling to get through any one of them.
I see SO much disharmony everywhere. The concept of harmony is so necessary so often. We ALL need it.
We need to be MINDFUL of HARMONY throughout our days.... Life is a target-rich harmony environment.
So, today, I have to choose from so many thoughts...
I feel like I am standing at the ice cream shop and its my turn in line. Do I feel like double chocolate? I don't often get the mint chocolate chip, but I am never dissapointed when I do. I do love that Pralines and Cream...
That is why I love Tutti Fruti .... the yogurt place. I really dont have to decide what ice cream to get... I can get a basic flavor and then loaded up with nuts and fresh blackberries and dark chocolate chips and just a little bit of fudge... There are those wacky asian fruits that I am sure taste good, but I am just a little hesitant to try....
SO, here is my harmony flavor for the day...
Our EGO distorts the absolute truth. I see it so clearly everywhere around me. When our lives are consumed by ourselves...
Have you ever asked WHY you choose to say what you say? WHY you choose to share what you share?
When our EGO is driving... we share things to show how special we are... to show how smart we are... to figure stuff out for what we need. We are distracted from conversations that do not have us as the center, or at a minimum a topic that is really dear to us.
When HARMONY is driving... we share things to help those around us see how special they are... to help those around us learn or feel better or consider a new thought or a new idea....
When HARMONY is driving... we ask open ended questions based on what we see in those we care about. We stay curious. We care about the answers.
When HARMONY is our focus... we allow there to be comfortable silence... we listen more... we feel less anxious to start talking so that we can again be the center of the universe.
Self-awareness...
Ego-awareness...
We all have one. We all need one. And, then to find harmony we all need to learn to keep it very much in check.
So many harmony flavors to choose from... opportunity is all around us... in everything we say and everything we don't say... in how we look at people... in how we respond to people... in how we think about people...
BEWARE THE SIZE OF YOUR OWN EGO... for it is the source of so much disharmony.
Disharmony is almost always from the desire to see others show up and exist in the world as we want them to or expect them to.... who says we get to choose how others show up?
Disharmony is almost always from putting our own desires ahead of those of the people we love and care about.
Disharmony is caused by the distortion of the truth created by our own ego.
Ayn Rand opened my eyes to the "virtue of selfishness". I believe that we all need to be proud of our ego.
And, selfishly, in the pursuit of harmony and happiness, I believe we must learn and grow to be able to keep our ego's in check.
Have the confidence, the courage, the wisdom, the were-with-all to allow others to go first... in your heart and in your mind.
And, pick whatever ice cream flavor you most desire... and keep Tutti Fruti in mind.
Beware the size of your own ego... as it will be the invisible source of incredible disharmony.
Ask yourself, WHY DO I CHOOSE TO SHARE AND SAY WHAT I SHARE AND SAY?
Is my EGO in charge? Or is Harmony? Am I truly listening and inquiring with genuine curiosity... or am I trying to steer you in a very specific direction?
NOTE: If your ego is in charge you will never be able to tell if your answer is wrong ;-)
