I believe parenting is difficult. It can be quite difficult. We need to push our children. We need to figure out how to motivate them. We need to help them see all that they are and can grow into being.
And, at the core, at the very core, I believe that the most powerful thing we can do for our children
is
to
see
them.
To really, really see them, for all that they already are.
Because nobody will look at them with the same love, with the same concern, with the same hope for their happiness and success.
I believe that our main jobs as parents is to help our children see themselves - how amazing they are, and BASED on exactly who the are, how amazing they can become...
I am saying PUSH them.... but push them from inside... push them from their success... push them from their potential.... push them from within your love for them... from within your trust in them...
Maybe this comes because I wish so often that my parents had seen me, and had made me feel like I belonged, instead of leaving it up to me to figure out.
I loved this ad... I thought it captured this thought so well...
