Imagine the sculpture…

It is

Complex,

Overwhelming,

So very intriguing,

Mundane and yet

UNIQUE…

It is sad

And happy

Empty and

Full

See this beautiful work of art as you construct it, knowing you will someday walk away and never look back.

Our life is our sculpture.

It doesn’t matter who we think we are supposed to be.

It doesn’t matter who we think we are or aren’t.

It doesn’t matter if we have failed or succeeded or both.

It doesn’t matter what we studied, where we worked, where we lived…

WE ARE WHO WE ARE

We are a unique and irrepeatable being… ONE SOUL… ONE SPIRIT…

Every lesson, every success, every failure, every scar, every love, every desire, every memory… carves the stone, melts the metal, shapes the shape.

It doesn’t matter that I was or am an “engineer”.

It doesn’t matter that I was or am from South America.

The only things that ultimately matters to my sculpture… to my life…

Is what I VALUE… Is who I AM at my very CORE… Is WHY I EXIST.

And, we don’t always know the answer.

We almost never can put it into words.

Maybe we can put what we value into words, but seldom who we are at our core, and why we exist.

Why do we expect who we are should be “describable” in words?

Ultimately, the people we love, the people we admire, the people we aspire to be like…  we can describe them in words, but its always so less “dimensional” and never truly accurate to the person we love.

Words are so very important and so very limited.

Degrees are so very important and so very limited.

Goals are so very important and so very limited.

Expectations are so very important and so very limited.

We are unique beings, and who we are is complex, and beautiful, and sad, and overwhelming, and comforting, and mysterious, and simple, and…

We think that we are “choosing” who we become.

We think on some level we control our destiny.

Theres is this invisible mass of a life when we are born, that fuels our creativity, our desire, our passion, our artistry…

And, we construct our life and our sculpture from the “pieces” that we come across; the people, the moments, the lessons, the emotions, the successes…

And, sometimes we don’t even realize we are creating a sculpture.  A unique work of art – of who we truly are.

I love the quote, “You cant teach anyone anything, you can share ideas and they decide which ones to embrace.”

So many people are exposed to similar things and yet take such different components for their statue.

FAILURE to some is a scar and a deficit, and to others a lesson and a badge.

LOVE to some is moment and to others is a lifetime journey.

MONEY to some is an obsession, to some it is a tool, to others it is irrelevant.

FRIENDSHIP to some is the glue that holds everything else together, and to others is a frail limb on distorted body.

SCHOOL to some is a place to learn and thrive and to others is a jungle to survive.

SUNSETS to some are a song and to others are the moment to seek shelter.

CHILDREN to some are a source of hope and to others a source of noise.

WORK to some is a source of purpose and to others a necessary evil.

EFFORT to some is meaningful and to others a chore.

WORDS to some are magic and to others are labor.

TRAVEL to some is inspiring and to others is exhausting.

EVERYTHING is something different in each of our interpretations…

Your life can be appreciated from a distance… and from very close up…

Moments beget moments, harmony begets harmony, and disharmony begets disharmony…

One slice, melt, chip, stroke, shape, glue at a time…

WE TAKE THE PIECES FROM OUR EXPERIENCES, FROM OUR MOMENTS, FROM OUR CONVERSATIONS, FROM OUR LOVES TO SHAPE OUR LIFE…

OUR SCULPTURE…

And from the same palette so many people take such different colors…

Be deliberate in your art.

Be mindful of your life.

Seek harmony in your moment.

We will all walk away…

Do you know what your sculture will look like when you are done?

What do you value?  Who do you love?  Why do you live?

You are exactly

who you were meant to be…

who you CHOSE to be…

No one else can shape you.

You are

a unique, unrepeatable work of art!

... an extraordinary SCULPTURE, and a work in progress.

Yours in harmony,

Nestor
