You know I believe that,
It's ALL about PEOPLE... EVERYTHING is...
Whatever you want to achieve in life, whatever you dream about, whatever you are scared about, whatever your job is... it requires people to construct it, to execute it, to bring it to life, and I would argue to fully enjoy it.
And, TRUST is ultimately what makes PEOPLE work...
Trust is the glue,
is the comfort,
is the connection,
is the grease,
is the medium,
is the magic that makes people work with people, live with people, enjoy people, share with people...
The book the Speed of Trust by Covey is good.
The video the ANATOMY of TRUST by Brene Brown is amazing.
And, TRUST remains an elusive, misunderstood, and misused concept.
If I trust you, I make myself vulnerable to you.
And, if I make myself vulnerable to you, I am real, and have the possibility of constructing the best version of myself, or whatever the situation is that we are discussing.
A few days ago in a meeting, an employee asked me, "If you trust me, why do you want me to share things with you. Why don't you trust that I can do my job?"

I TRUST YOU
doesn't mean that you are perfect
I TRUST YOU
doesn't mean that I am no longer still responsible for our outcome
I TRUST YOU
doesn't mean that your approach cannot be improved upon
I TRUST YOU means
I know that you want to do the right thing.
I know that you are competent and intelligent.
I know that you will make this work.
It also means, that I TRUST THAT YOU WILL TRUST ME.
I TRUST that you will include me enough so that I can learn from what you are doing... and occasionally add value.
I TRUST that you will be transparent, as I will be in what I do.
I TRUST that you will welcome my questions, as I will welcome yours.
I TRUST that you will consider my thoughts when I choose to share them.
I TRUST that we will be better together than we are apart.
The question I am going to start asking when people ask me "Don't you trust me?"
Is...
Don't you TRUST US?
Because I do... I TRUST that we are strongest working together, being vulnerable together, being open together.
I don't believe in PERFECT... I believe in BETTER...
NOTHING is ever perfect, but EVERYTHING can be made BETTER...
And, I trust YOU, and I trust US to make that so...
Trust is about you tell me what you are candidly thinking, and I tell you what I am candidly thinking, and we respect each other enough and believe in each other enough that we deal with THAT... that absolute and vulnerable truth... together to make whatever the situation is SIMPLY BETTER... and in the spirit of harmony, we do that over and over again to achieve harmony over time.
Harmony starts with the ABSOLUTE TRUTH of WHAT IS... What WE BELIEVE, what we FEEL, what we UNDERSTAND... and TRUST is simply the confidence in each other to EXPOSE that TRUTH and see it through to the want.
TRUST is the pixie dust of HARMONY... and as such the PIXIE DUST of success and happiness. And, it's a PIXIE DUST that you own within your mind and within your heart... it's simply allowing yourself to FEEL it and spread your wings and FLY...
It's ABOUT people, EVERYTHING IS...
And, TRUST is what makes people working with people work...
So WORK IT... WORK TRUST... PUSH TRUST... SPEAK TO TRUST... CHALLENGE TRUST... DEFINE TRUST... TALK ABOUT TRUST... AND ACT WITH TRUST which means with vulnerability and with CANDOR...
If you look at ANY aspect of anxiety, stress, fear, discomfort... it will boil down to some breech or concern or misunderstanding over trust...
