My story, much like yours, is unique.

I was born in Lima, Peru in 1967.  I had two sisters that suffered from Muscular Dystrophy.  I was the "middle" child.

My parents, in 1975 in an unusual act of initiative, moved us to the United States to get medical help for my sisters and afford them a better life.

In 1978, my sister Ana died from Bronchial Pneumonia at the age of 7.  In 1981, my sister Dee died from Broncho Pneumonia at the age of 15.  The United States couldn't cure them, but it did afford all of us an amazing opportunity and a wonderful life.

My parents moved back to Peru soon after I graduated from college with an Engineering degree.

I have been a student of harmony, of success, of happiness all of my life.

I realize that I am the one that gets to live out my life. I am the one that gets to play out my full hand, and I am grateful, everyday, for that gift.

I have a wonderful family with my wife Susy of 25 years and three very special sons, Nicholas, Lucas and Marco (i.e. Lumani).  They teach me and they push me everyday to be more myself and to reach fully for my dreams.  I run an engineering company.  And, I still dream big dreams about the future.  My biggest dream is to live fully into my ambition, to use it all up, to leave no opportunity on the table that was meant for me.  In short, to live a life without regret.

My only fear is that I don't want to waste time, or any more time than I may already have.  I can only control the now.

My purpose is to help myself and everyone I come in contact with to find greater meaning, to live a purposeful life, to be more aware and grateful of each and every moment, and to make the most of my individual journey by helping those I love and those I come to know, in some way, to make the most of theirs.

I wrote a poem once.  I used to write often. The first line starts like this...

I am the author.  Life is my book, my only work of art.

And, the last line ends...

As I lept off the cliff, leaving all of the gold.  I opened my eyes, to look, to be bold.  All based on this dream that I had long ago.  I believe I could fly, and to fly, I let go.

Thank you for sharing this moment, and I hope in some way, my thoughts and my insights, spark a new energy or a new thought along your journey.
