What the HELL???
I can't believe you guys have been letting me do this...
Today, driving to work at some unGodly early hour drinking my Starbucks Clover coffee (I am going to write about the harmony of Starbucks soon)... I was thinking... (surprised?)
I have been all giddy about my little sign off, "Yours in the Pursuit of Harmony..."!!!
NO, NO, NO!!!!!
Haven't I been listening to ANYTHING that I have been saying?
Our founding fathers were amazingly wise and courageous men. I have the UTMOST RESPECT for them... BUT WHY????
That is NOT it!
WHY ISN'T IT LIFE, LIBERTY AND HAPPINESS?????
The concept of harmony, is that we CANNOT achieve it in the FUTURE or in the PAST!!! IT CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED IN THE MOMENT! So, we cannot PURSUE IT... We need simply CHOOSE TO BE IN IT!
THAT'S IT!
Why do I have to be pursuing Harmony or Happiness? Why can't I just BE HAPPY... just like I get to BE FREE?
WE CAN!!!
I am HAPPY... I AM CRAZY HAPPY... and I LIVE A LIFE IN GREAT HARMONY EVERYDAY IN EVERY MOMENT... Why do I feel so compelled to "PURSUE IT?" Why do I feel like I haven't reached it? Wanting to be better, or achieve it more consistently, or improve our expertise in living it... all worthy causes... but why does wanting to be better, keep me from acknowledging that we're already there?
So, Harmony says we need to KEEP DOING IT moment after moment...
OK... I get that...
And, if we take our eye off the ball, we may drift...
TRUE DAT! (But that also applies to LIBERTY folks!)
Just because we continue to improve upon something and aspire to an even greater level, doesn't mean we are not IN IT.
I am happy today, and I will strive to be happy tomorrow... even happier perhaps...
But "YOURS IN THE PURSUIT" fails to acknowledge that ITS ALREADY HERE!
SO... NO MORE "YOURS IN THE PURSUIT"...
And, if I had my druthers, as much as I love our founding fathers... I think they got this one wrong.
It should be LIFE, LIBERTY AND HAPPINESS... We pursue all of it, but we have a RIGHT to all of it as well...
If we focus on the pursuit... we are always in the chase... We can and should continue to pursue it. But, we must more importantly, celebrate it and acknowledge it.
What is keeping us from reaching it? Harmony or happiness? It's simply the decision to embrace it...
Harmony is not an end, but a means to an end... a way of life that delivers success and happiness and a full and satisfying life... that is the end of it... the result of it...
HARMONY...
BE IN THE BATTLE OF IT...
BE IN THE GRATITUDE OF IT...
BE IN THE STRUGGLE FOR IT...
BE IN THE CELEBRATION OF IT...
BE IN THE MAGIC OF IT...
BE IN THE POWER OF IT...
BE IN IT... IN EVERY MOMENT!
LIVE IT BABY! LIFE, LIBERTY AND HARMONY AND HAPPINESS!
YOURS VERY MUCH IN HARMONY... RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!
