Everyday more articles come out about studies and about our ever increasing understanding of "happiness" and "success".
And, most people skip those articles.
And, other people read them, but don't internalize them.
I have read several articles recently about the concept of "GRIT" as the most important character trait in students who excel in life (and sometimes in school). I have read articles about "GRIT" and its importance in our professional success. It's the thing that separates those who ultimately succeed from those who don't...
THE ABILITY TO NEVER QUIT!
Sometimes, they don't call it "GRIT".
Yesterday, I read an article on how successful and truly creative people see "failure" not as a stopping point, but as a "learning" opportunity. They see life as iterative, and failures are just a data point that helps you to redirect your energy in a slightly different direction often to achieve the same goal.
That is "GRIT"...
I love the word - because it truly sounds like what it is...
"small, loose particles of sand" OR
"COURAGE and RESOLVE.
STRENGTH OF CHARACTER.
BACKBONE.
SPIRIT.
RESOLUTION.
DETERMINATION.
RESOLVE.
HARDINESS.
TENACITY.
PERSEVERANCE.
ENDURANCE."
Happiness not only requires those things...
It DEMANDS those things if you are seeking a success beyond the status quo.
EVERYDAY my harmony is challenged...
by myself...
by those I work with...
by those I love...
Making me "WISH" that I was already further along, that things were different, that progress was faster, that paths were different.
EVERYDAY your harmony,
your happiness,
your success...
GETS CHALLENGED by LIFE!
GRIT IS IT!
Is your resolve for harmony,
Is your resolve for happiness,
Is your resolve for success,
Is IT BIGGER and MORE POWERFUL than all of the other forces that come to meet you?
It needs to be...
Even if there are moments when you doubt it, those moments come and go...
Harmony, by definition is the philosophy of finding the truth and the want in EVERY moment.
And, it can be exhausting.
And, some days can be harder than others.
And, there are moments, and there are days, when you may feel like you failed.
But those are data points.
Those are "No Outlet" signs, forcing you to create a better path.
Figure out what you need to keep going...
For me, it could be things as simple as seeing the sun rise above the horizon...
A new day, a new moment, a new opportunity to construct harmony again.
GRIT IS IT!
You need to get smart to the things that fan your flames.
You need to figure out what resets you, what grounds you, what revitalizes you.
And, you must go to them, it or that,... regularly to keep your resolve.
Whether its heavenly or earthly, whether its a friend, or a book, or a habit, or a pleasure... whether its reading, or loving, or thinking, or meditating, or praying, or running, or walking, or sleeping... (though it typically involves joy, rest & thoughtfulness to be effective).
Recharge your soul, because no other journey that you are on has greater consequence.
You can never stop trying.
Harmony begets harmony.
Disharmony begets disharmony.
Continue to understand the TRUTH.
Point yourself in every moment toward the highest and most powerful version of your WANT.
And, show up...
OVER
and
OVER
and
OVER
and
OVER
and
OVER
again...
LIVING your life to savor the moments in which you do achieve it...
And, accepting that we never actually conquer it, or own it... we simply enjoy it...
And, then we battle on to the next moment!
If it was easy...
Everyone would be happy all the time!
GRIT IS IT!
Yours in harmony,
Nestor
