Mi querida Madre:
You will never be able to read this letter, but I will still enjoy writing it. You are gone, and yet you are still here. Happy Birthday Mama… Happy 80th.
While I can no longer feel the strength of your hugs, I will always feel the strength of your love.
I can’t wait to see you next week. Though you will gaze into the distance and keep your thoughts to yourself, I will gaze at your beautiful smile and tell you mine.
We will dance… And I will feel your heart sing.
You were my biggest fan.
You taught me love.
You taught me strength.
You taught me friendship.
And, I missed you when you were depressed. You broke my heart. You scared me.
And, you came back.
You loved my boys, and my Susanita, with all of your heart…
You were real, playful, passionate…
And, you still are.
I am grateful beyond words, for your strength, for your love.
I am sorry for all of the times when you felt me far away – which were all more than you deserved.
I will hold you and dance with you, always, in my heart. Feliz Dia Madre. I see you now. I love you now. And, I miss you now, and will miss you more when you are gone. You will be part of me, forever.
Because of you…
I am.
In harmony,
Corazon
